SpaceX

SpaceX, also known as Space Exploration Technologies Corp. is an American spacecraft manufacturing, launch services provider and satellite communications company headquartered in Hawthorne, California. Founded by Elon Musk, SpaceX was the first private company to successfully launch and return a spacecraft from Earth orbit and the first to launch a manned spacecraft and dock with the International Space Station (ISS). SpaceX designs, manufactures and launches rockets and spacecraft, and develops crew and cargo capsules, engines, equipment, and guidance and control software.

Blue Origin

Blue Origin is a privately held U.S. aerospace company founded in 2000 by Jeff Bezos. Headquartered in Kent, Washington, Blue Origin develops vehicles and technologies to enable commercial human space transportation. The company's long-term vision is to significantly increase the number of people flying into space so that humans can continue to explore the solar system more effectively.

The company is engaged in the development of reusable launch vehicles and systems in space, and offers suborbital rockets, payload flights, propulsion subsystems and combustion engine products. Blue Origin serves the civil, commercial and defense sectors.

Axiom Space

Axiom Space is a human spaceflight service provider. With full mission operations to the International Space Station (ISS), Axiom Space is developing the world's first commercial space station. In addition, they are building next-generation spacesuits for low-Earth orbit, the Moon and beyond. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, founded in 2016, by Michael T. Suffredini and Kam Ghaffarian.

Together, they established Axiom Space with a vision to advance the commercial use of space to benefit everyone and develop the world's first commercial space station the company is focused on expanding the human presence in space and bringing benefits back to Earth.

Comparison of the three companies

As of 2024, SpaceX, Blue Origin and Axiom Space have made significant advances in the aerospace industry

SpaceX:

  • SpaceX has planned more than 140 launches of the Falcon family of rockets by 2024.
  • Up to 10 test flights of Starship have been conducted, with the goal of developing it into a human lander for the Moon in collaboration with NASA.
  • Starship has reached its target orbital velocity and demonstrated the ability to restart Raptor engines in space.

    Blue Origin:

  • Blue Origin aims to launch the ESCAs mission.

    Axiom Space:

  • Axiom Space has agreed with NASA to conduct at least one private astronaut mission to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2024.
  • The company is developing the Axiom Station, which will be the world's first commercial space station, and is expected to be attached to the front port of the ISS Harmony node in late 2024.
  • Axiom Space is also building next-generation spacesuits for low-Earth orbit, the Moon and beyond.
In conclusion, these companies are leading the way into a new era of space exploration, with SpaceX and Blue Origin focusing on rocket launches and Axiom Space on expanding the human presence in space. And there is no doubt that these companies will eventually manage to refine or improve more and more their technologies to explore space.
